One year old and loving it at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Big THANKS to The Sprosty Network for inviting me to photograph a few of their staff and consultants. I had the pleasure of meeting 5 exceedingly talented and fun people that day. Here is just one of my favorite images from a day full of headshots. I think it's the glasses. Also, hugs to Leslie Plesser of Shuttersmack for the kind referral. Smoooch!!
This portrait is from last Fall. I met an extended family for portraits by the river near St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis. The family was celebrating their mother's 70th birthday and since they don't all get together as often as they would like, we did a bunch of photographs. Below is what happens when cousins get together.
Lately, it's all about one window, one kid, and that glint in their eyes. I love classic black and white photography for representing the sweetest, cuddliest, baby parts.
Blustery, cold days are good for something : getting your picture taken in a giant daylight studio! I love the way these portraits turned out. Great kids, great family.
I love the light, the movement, the wind, and of course, the kid!
I wanted to share this photo of my beautiful friend, Lindsay. We met when our first children were crawling. We shared many similar philosophies about raising kids. One thing we both found snuggly, functional, and beautiful was wearing our babes in ring slings. There are slings and wraps to suit any mother... or father out there these days. But, the one I get the most compliments on is the ring sling. Let's say its my "dress up" sling. Instead of throwing on a pair of heels anymore, I get out the ring sling. I bought both of mine from Sleeping Baby Productions and can't recommend them highly enough. They are especially perfect for newborns.
The New York Times ran an article this week about a trend in social media, Personal Branding. Why not, they say, put your best self forward online. Instead of relying on a selfie or other snapshot, many people are hiring photographers to create portraits for their social media profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn, their blogs, business website, etc. I for one, LOVE this idea! In a time where we can all be pretty good photographers given the level of technology available, there is something completely different about a professional shoot. So, brand yourself. Treat yourself.
This family is so easy to photograph! Add in some late-afternoon sun and a beach at Lake Calhoun and you get the perfect mix for lovely family portraits.
